FORT HOOD — The court-martial of a 37-year-old master sergeant accused of paying for sex with a low-ranking female solider is winding down, after both the prosecution and defense rested their cases this afternoon.

Brad Grimes is charged with conspiring to patronize a prostitute, patronizing a prostitute, committing adultery, solicitation to commit adultery. Presiding Judge, Col. Gregory Gross threw out a charge of dereliction of duty this afternoon.

Grimes allegedly conspired with another Fort Hood noncommissioned officer, Sgt. 1st Class Gregory McQueen, to arrange to have sex with a female private first class at the Killeen La Quinta Inn Feb. 16, according to prosecutors. McQueen has not been charged with anything.

Prosecutors rested their case after presented evidence taken from Grimes cell phone, which showed 13 deleted text messages sent between Feb. 15 and 16. Prosecutors also played a recording made between Grimes and the female solider, who was secretly wearing a recording device at the request of investigators. Grimes did not admit to paying for sex on the recording.

During the first day of the trial Monday, the female solider claimed Grimes paid her $100 for sex. The solider also provided details about an alleged ring of “escorts” on post……
