Our military court martial results are clear. The suspected military service member and his or her future is our main concern. Our military attorneys maintain smaller caseloads than the usual free military defense attorney so that we can focus on every case on an individual basis. It has a population of about 12,361 as per the 2010 census. It is located amidst the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton-Beaufort, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area. Based on Port Royal Island, the city forms the heat of Sea Islands and South Carolina Low Country.

One of the most attractive parts of Beaufort is the beautiful and scenic locations, which have been preserved well. The antebellum architecture here in particular is worth seeing. It is also the home to military establishments. The city has often come or featured in publication like the New York Times as one of the “Best Small Southern Town” and in American style for the “Top 25 Small City Arts Destination”.

History and Tourist Destinations

The history of this city is as colorful as its’ scenic beauty. Based in the Low country region, it had faced a lot of European explorations. However, they were not able to colonize the area until the British finally got hold of it in 1711. It started with a slow and redundant growth and later it finally flourished with many Native American tribe attacks along with Spanish invasion. It was one of the major areas for ship building and it became known as the slave society. During later years, the hostilities continued to grow and the area was taken over by the Union forces, which announced the slaves emancipated and aimed for independence.

There are a lot of beautiful places to see here and the tourist destinations are major attractions. Beaufort, SC remains to be one of the most gorgeous and romantic places in the country. There are a lot of festivals and events celebrated here throughout the year. It hosts the:

  • Home Water Festival, which is a 2 week celebration that takes place in July

Military Base

The city is also host to the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort or MCAS Beaufort of the United States Marine Corps. This base is situated about 3 miles away from the busy district of the city and is one of the most beautiful basses in the country. Currently it is home to more than 4,700 personnel who are serving at the station. Along with this, the base is also host or rather home to 6 Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornet fighter-attack squadrons.

Naval Air Station Beaufort had been commissioned on 15th June 1943. In the initial months, the base was hub for advanced training operations that took care of the submarine attacks and patrols in the World War II era. But post the war; the base had been deactivated for this service, around 1946. However, in the year 1956, the base was reactivated again and on the 1st of March 1960, it was re-designated Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. In the year 1975, the name Merritt Field in honor of Major General Lewie G. Merritt, USMC, was also given to the airfield.
