Brief Background of the USAG Torii Station

The United States Army Base Command at Okinawa was set up in 1972 and it was later regrouped to form a garrison, after which, in 1978, it was revamped to form the United States Army Support Activity. The name United States Army Garrison Okinawa was given to it in 1979.

This is a US army garrison located in Yomitan, Japan. It is home to the 1-1 ADA REG, 835th Trans BN, 10th Area Support Group, 505th Quartermaster Battalion, 247th MP DET and the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force, in addition to several other units. The 10th Area Support Group is in charge of providing full support to all the military units that are operating in the Okinawa region.

This military garrison is one of the biggest bases, which provides support for all operations of the various units of the United States army across Asia. This installation is responsible for disbursing military fuel across the island, receiving and transporting any cargo received and monitoring all port operations.
