The United States Army Base Command at Okinawa was set up in 1972 and it was later regrouped to form a garrison, after which, in 1978, it was revamped to form the United States Army Support Activity. The name United States Army Garrison Okinawa was given to it in 1979.
This is a US army garrison located in Yomitan, Japan. It is home to the 1-1 ADA REG, 835th Trans BN, 10th Area Support Group, 505th Quartermaster Battalion, 247th MP DET and the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force, in addition to several other units.
