A Coast Guard member charged with attempted indecent visual recording pleaded guilty to a lesser offense Friday.
Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Cote, 32, was sentenced during a special court-martial in Norfolk.
Cote was sentenced to twelve months confinement at the Naval Consolidated Brigc in Chesapeake, reduction of rank to E-1 and a bad conduct discharge.
Six months will be suspended, Coast Guard officials say.
Vice Adm. William Lee, commander of the Coast Guard Atlantic Area, referred Cote’s case to a special court-martial on Dec. 28, 2015.
Cote was assigned to Cutter Northland, homeported in Portsmouth, when the misconduct occurred.
